About Gower Electric Co
The Gower Electric Company, started life as part of Gower Power and has grown in to an independent Community Interest Company that supplies local produced electricity to customers in Swansea and the surrounds.
Founded on Gower in 2017, this innovative scheme is the first of it’s kind in the UK providing local people with locally produced renewable energy over the local grid. Initially funded by the Welsh Government and Development Bank of Wales, a consortium of partners set up the project at the community solar farm in Swansea in conjunction with Ecotricity who are Britain’s greenest energy supplier.
Community Benefit
Gower Electric Co uses its surplus for the benefit of the community, either through money off customers bills or donating to charity. So far, this includes supporting the below amazing organisations:
