New Local Businesses at the Farm - Yunara Coffee and Wild Plant Paper
Celebrating two independent local businesses bringing creativity, craftsmanship and a fresh approach to sustainability to Killan Fach Eco Farm.
There’s something special happening at Killan Fach Eco Farm. Alongside its role in local renewable energy, the farm is becoming a place where independent businesses, creative ideas and a more sustainable way of living can flourish.
We’re delighted to shine a spotlight on two businesses connected with the farm: Yunara Coffee and Wild Plant Paper. Although their crafts are very different, both share a thoughtful approach to their work, a respect for resources and a desire to do things with care.
From carefully roasted coffee to handmade paper made using plants from the local area, these are two businesses with a distinctly local feel and an appreciation for the natural world.
Yunara Coffee: Taking time to make a better cup
Good coffee is about much more than what ends up in your mug. It’s about the beans, the roasting process, the people behind the product and the experience of enjoying it.
Yunara Coffee is a Swansea-based micro-roastery with a focus on sourcing and roasting coffee well. Its philosophy is refreshingly simple: work carefully, take your time and make space for people to learn and grow.
The name Yunara has roots close to home, reflecting the personal and considered approach behind the business. Rather than treating coffee as just another everyday commodity, Yunara puts thought into the process, inviting people to appreciate the craft behind every cup.
There’s a natural fit between this approach and the ethos of Killan Fach Eco Farm. In a setting shaped by renewable energy and a commitment to making better use of our resources, a small, independent roastery offers another example of how local enterprise can thrive alongside a more sustainable future.
Whether you’re already passionate about speciality coffee or simply enjoy discovering the people behind the things you buy, Yunara is a great example of the care and curiosity that make independent businesses worth supporting.

Wild Plant Paper: Giving nature a new story
What if the plants growing around us could become something beautiful, useful and entirely unexpected?
That’s the idea at the heart of Wild Plant Paper, a Swansea-based creative enterprise exploring the art of handmade papermaking using wild plants, garden cuttings and other locally sourced materials.
Founded by Bryan Collis, Wild Plant Paper takes inspiration from the natural world and the possibilities of materials that might otherwise go unnoticed. Grass cuttings, leaves, nettles, flower stems and other plant matter can all offer interesting textures, colours and fibres for making paper.
Every batch has its own character. The plants themselves help determine the finished paper’s appearance, creating sheets that are tactile, distinctive and full of natural detail.
And it isn’t just about the finished product. Wild Plant Paper also shares the process through practical workshops, giving people the opportunity to explore papermaking for themselves, experiment with different plant materials and discover the creative potential of their surroundings.
This is sustainability made tangible: looking at what is already available, finding value in overlooked resources and turning them into something new.
At Killan Fach Eco Farm, Wild Plant Paper feels right at home. Its work connects creativity with the landscape, demonstrating how local materials can inspire new skills, products and ways of thinking about waste.

Two businesses, one shared spirit
Both show how small businesses can develop distinctive products by focusing on quality and the resources available to them. And both bring something valuable to the wider Swansea community.
Their presence at Killan Fach Eco Farm also reflects a bigger idea: that a place associated with renewable energy can be much more than a source of electricity. It can be a home for local makers, a meeting point for ideas and a space where new kinds of enterprise can grow.
Supporting independent businesses helps keep skills, knowledge and creativity alive in our local area. It gives people the chance to discover the stories behind their purchases and build connections with the people who make them.
